Police say that Viafore and 35-year-old Angelika Graswald were kayaking on the water when they experienced choppy water and strong winds, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Viafore's kayak capsized and Graswald called 911 to help, the report said. She also fell out of her own kayak and was later rescued by a boater, the report said.

Viafore was not wearing a life jacket, the report said. Police, marine patrols and fire departments searched for Viafore by boat and helicopter through late Sunday Night and continued on Monday in Cornwall-on-Hudson, the report said.

Both kayaks were recovered and attempts to locate Viafore are still ongoing, the report said.
