Eric Gaulin, who last lived at 157 W. Main St. in Tarrytown, acknowledged legal responsibility in the September 2013 shooting death of Megan Bookstaver, according to a press release.

Gaulin, Bookstaver and a friend had purchased a rifle and ammunition at a sporting goods store that day, and then traveled to Gaulin’s residence, court records show.

A bullet was fired from one of the rifles Gaulin owned, and Bookstaver died at the scene.

Gaulin has maintained that the shooting was accidental, and will be sentenced Jan. 27.

Second-degree manslaughter, a class C felony, carries a maximum sentence of five to 15 years.
