The more than $1.5 million in funding went to Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington in Westchester County and Piermont, Nyack, South Nyack and Upper Nyack in Rockland. Grants ranged in amounts from $300,000 to $163,000, said lohud.com.

The grants, part of a deal with environmental groups that allowed new bridge construction, will be used for everything from new park benches and plazas to construction of small bridges and upgrades to current bridges, added lohud.com.
