Trainer Z Makes His Return to Dobbs Ferry

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- ZeZor DeForce is probably better known around town by his moniker as the fitness motivator “Trainer Z.” DeForce is officially reopening his workout studio on Sept. 7 after a two year break.

The local trainer moved down to Florida for a couple of years to take on other business ventures, but has returned to where his success began.

"They persevered through my hiatus of being in Florida for a couple years, shutting down this space and they still continue to come to the classes," DeForce said of his clients.

Personal training has become a lifestyle for DeForce as he's been self-employed for the past 15 years.

"For me, exercising, fitness, lifting weights was a self-esteem boost so I taught myself a lot of the basics that I needed and was able to reap the benefits of the results," he said.

With a fitness book coming out this year, plans for workout videos and even a reality show in the works DeForce has worked to maximize his skills.

Personal training wasn't his only career though, as the Yonkers native worked extensively in other areas.

"Most of my work career has been as a counselor for youths, for children in crisis, for emotionally disturbed children at a few different facilities throughout Westchester," DeForce said. "I think that is what has allowed me to work with people in general so well."

The training allows DeForce to develop relationships with the locals that in turn help make his classes that much stronger.

"This is my training field and the people that I utilize, I see them as a part of a team because I tell them you all help me to make these classes the best that they can be," he said.

Having lived in Ardsley and Hastings over the years along with working in Dobbs Ferry, DeForce says he has become fond of the area. Now that he's back in the village, DeForce said he wouldn't have it any other way.

"I couldn't see myself calling any other place home base," he said. "I love the Rivertowns, it has its charm."
