Village Hosts Parade for Dobbs Ferry Football

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – ‘Tis the season to be a New York State High School football champion in Dobbs Ferry, and the Eagles, who brought home the Class C state title Sunday, will be honored Saturday by the village, friends, family and the entire community.

“We have so much support for the team in Dobbs,” Eagles wide receiver Thomas Fleming said following the win Sunday. “We had busloads of people come to the game and a lot of them didn’t have players on the team. This win is for the whole community.”

A parade featuring the Dobbs Ferry Eagles, who trounced upstate Southwestern High School 39-0 at the Syracuse Carrier Dome to win their fourth state title, will begin at the high school on Broadway at 4:15 p.m. and run into the down town business district where the team will light the village Christmas tree located at the corner of Cedar Street and Main Street next to the Aqueduct.

John Yozzo-Scaperrotta, who is a third generation football player at Dobbs Ferry, beamed when he talked about the village’s football history after the game Sunday.

“It’s just so great to win this for Dobbs Ferry,” Yozzo-Scaperrotta said. “We have a tradition of great football. We’re going celebrate.”
