NEW CITY, N.Y. -- A New City resident and athletic director at Biondi School in Yonkers was charged Thursday with extortion in connection with claims he used threats and intimidation to collect debts, said the Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe.

Joseph Ruback, 46, also known as the New York Giants' superman “License Plate Guy,” was charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, according to Zugibe.

"The defendant used threats and intimidation to collect debts and charged usurious interest rates on outstanding debts," said Zugibe. "Today’s arrest sends a loud and clear message that law enforcement will keep up the pressure on those involved in this type of criminality.”

Ruback was arrested by detectives with the Organized Crime Unit and arraigned before Town of Clarkstown Judge Johns; a $2,000 bail was set. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan.11.

This case is being prosecuted by Executive ADA Dominic Crispino and ADA Justin Ames.
