'Wise Guys' Take The Top Spot At Hastings HS Community Quiz Bowl

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The "Wise Guys" team was named the first-place winner of the Hastings High School Annual Community Quiz Bowl Thursday, March 19, which contained questions based on high school academics, pop culture and sports.

The "Wise Guys" received the coveted grand prize - almond cookies from By The Way Bakery. About 10 teams comprised of parents, former students and the community participated in the event at Hastings High School.

The event raised money for the Hastings High School Academic Challenge Team to make a trip to Washington, D.C., at the end of May to participate in the National Academic Championships. Hastings plans on sending one or two teams this year.

Michael Duff, academic challenge advisor, has been orchestrating the event for the past five years. However, he said Brian McGinnis is the person who brought the event to Hastings High School many years ago.
