But Donna Davies, of Hyde Park decided to replace the medallion. Davies said the medallion costs between $50 and $60, and that she will pay for it herself, lohud reported.

The bronze-cast medallion marks Irving as a veteran of the War of 1812. The theft was part of recent vandalism at the cemetery which showed other signs of damage, reported lohud.

Davies is a long-time supporter of the cemetery. She was president of its historic fund in 2013, and spent years donating her time and money to maintain the site, reported lohud.
