Anne Marie Leddy, 67, Longtime Hastings Resident

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Anne Marie Simonetti Leddy of Hastings-on-Hudson died Jan. 19. She was 67.

Leddy was born and raised in Bronx, N.Y. She graduated from St. Catherine's Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Hunter College. She also received a master’s degree in education from the City University of New York.

She taught elementary education in New York City and married James "Jimmy" Leddy in 1969. The couple moved to Hastings-on-Hudson in 1973.

Upon moving to Hastings, Leddy retired from teaching to raise a family. She served as co-head of the PTSA for Hillside School, was a parent representative for the St. Matthew's CYO program and frequently participated in volunteer and parish activities.

Leddy loved poetry, music, cooking, history, reading on the beach and helping others. Her family said that she embraced all of the sports her children played. 

She is survived by her husband; two sons, James and Brian; a sister, Aurelie Ruckh; a brother, Anthony Simonetti; and two nephews.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Church of St. Matthew in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
