Arthur Lyman, 91, WWII Veteran, Formerly Of Ardsley

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Arthur Everett Lyman, formerly of Ardsley, died Feb. 3 at Life Care Center in Leominster, Mass. He was 91.

He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Vulcan, Alberta, Canada to Robert Edgar and Annie Jamison Lyman. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in 1943.

During World War II, he served as an engineer on numerous merchant ships, providing supplies to the European and Pacific theatres. He continued to sail after the war and obtained a chief engineer's license.

He then started a long career as a salesman in the marine industry. He lived in Ardsley for 45 years before retiring from Unitor Corp. in 1998 and moving to Leominster. He was an avid skier, staying active into his mid-80s.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Curley-Marchand Funeral Home in Leominster. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday St. Leo's Church in Leominster. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Milford Humane Society in Milford, Mass.
