Audrey Grace Bloomer, 86, Longtime Hastings-on-Hudson Resident

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Audrey Grace (Maund) Bloomer, a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, died Friday, July 12. She was 86.

Bloomer was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Yonkers, daughter of Roy Maund and Gertrude (O'Connor) Knapp. She attended School Two and Benjamin Franklin J.H.S. in Yonkers and was a parishioner of Holy Eucharist R.C. Church. She moved to Hastings-on-Hudson in 1940 and graduated from Hastings-on-Hudson High School in 1944. She was employed for 20 years as an executive secretary at the Andrus Children's Home. She was later employed as a unit clerk at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. She retired in 1985. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Matthew R.C. Church, where she was a former daily communicant. She was a member of the Hastings Busy Bees and Senior Canteen.

Bloomer is survived by her husband, Harry J. Bloomer; children, David and Mary Ellen (William) Ballantine both of Hastings-on-Hudson; and Robert (Jean) of San Antonio, Texas; brother, John Knapp, of Dobbs Ferry; sisters-in-law, Ms. Vera Maria Guimaraes, of Nova Friburgo, Brazil and May Cusack of Dobbs Ferry; cousins; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Harry J. Bloomer, Jr. (USMC); and sisters, Patricia Duddy and Doris Duddy.

Calling hours are Monday, July 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 at the Church of St. Matthew R.C., Hastings-on-Hudson.
