Brian A. Bracken, 77, Former Dobbs Ferry Resident

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Brian A. Bracken, 77, an area resident for 36 years, died on Nov.17 at the River Valley Care Center. 

He previously lived in Stormville, Putnam Valley, Dobbs Ferry, and the Bronx. Born in the Bronx on November 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles and May Bracken.

Bracken served in the US Army, and was employed in the insurance industry. He was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, and enjoyed playing the guitar.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Jennifer and Todd Benson of N.C.; Cara and Joseph Kahaly of N.J.; Erin and Michael Vainblat of Westchester: and Brian and Rachel Bracken of Astoria; his grandchildren, Ashley, Deanna, Dylan, and Breanne; his brother, Don Bracken of Palisades; and many nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to the arrival of his grandson in February 2016.

Bracken was predeceased by his sister, Gerry Gallagher, and his brother, Cormac Bracken.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment with military honors.
