Charles Chebetar, 86, Of Dobbs Ferry, Worked For Con-Edison

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Charles "Cheb" Chebetar, Sr. of Dobbs Ferry died Sept. 13. He was 86.

Chebetar was born in Pocantico Hills, to Adam and Maria Chebetar. He has lived in Dobbs Ferry since 1953 and previously lived in North Tarrytown. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked for Con-Edison for 40 years and was a supervisor in charge of construction in Westchester. He was a member of the 1048 American Legion DAV Post 98.

Chebetar is survived by his wife Angela; children, Jean Maria (Robert) Guberti, Michael (Christiane), Paul (Lynn) and Charles Jr.; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry.
