ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Donald Thomas McNerney, of Ardsley, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the age of 75.
McNerney was born on Nov. 27, 1939, in the Bronx to James and Bridget (Cuniff) McNerney. He was raised in the Bronx and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Catherine (Christie) McNerney and moved to Ardsley, where they lived and raised five children. He took great pride in his children and was active in the Ardsley community, serving as sports coach to many teams and as American Legion president.
McNerney is survived by his former wife, Catherine; his children, Donald (Desiree); Chris (Kelly); Bernard (Mindy); Catherine; and Darleen (Alix); his sister; eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters Margaret Rudowich, Mary McNerney and Eileen Hiller; and by his brothers Michael McNerney, James McNerney, John "Jack" McNerney and William Hiller.
Visitation is on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry. A service will be Friday at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be on Saturday at Ferncliff Cemetery Chapel.
