Elizabeth Rose Amantea, 68, Of Dobbs Ferry, Teacher

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Elizabeth Rose Amantea of Dobbs Ferry died Sept. 26. She was 68.

Amantea was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, to Anthony and Elizabeth Amantea. She graduated from Mercy College with a Bachelor's Degree in Science. She later continued her education and graduated with a Master's Degree. She was a teacher for the New York City Public School System for over 30 years. She taught at PS 28 Mt. Hope School in the Bronx for most of her career.

Amantea is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Michael) Hasbrouck; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Monday, Sept. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pets Alive Westchester or to North Shore Animal League or to the Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center.
