Ex-Hastings Fire Capt. Nelson McGinigle Dies at 61

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Nelson F. McGinigle, a lifelong Hastings-on-Hudson resident and fire department volunteer, died Aug. 3 while on a cruise in the Caribbean Sea. He was 61. 

McGinigle worked for the Triboro Bridge and Tunnel Authority for 25 years. He was a 42-year member and ex-captain of the Hastings-On-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department Hook and Ladder Co. He was also a member of the Hastings-on-Hudson Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Southside Athletic Club.

McGinigle is survived by his mother, Eleanor McGinigle; a sister, Janice (Frank) Minkewicz and two nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John R. McGinigle. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Hastings-on-Hudson. Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry.
