George Anthony Delmerico, 67 Former Dobbs Ferry Resident

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - George Anthony Delmerico of Santa Barbara, formerly of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., died Aug. 11. He was 67.

Delmerico was born to Patrick Delmerico and Helen Jordan Delmerico. A 1963 graduate of Dobbs Ferry High School. He received a BFA in Design and Art Direction from Pratt Institute in New York City, where he graduated first in his class. He began his career in New York at Push Pin Studios. He later worked as an art director at New York magazine, Newsday, The New York Times, Giorno Poetry Systems, and Columbia Records. He also served as art director of The Village Voice from 1976 to 1985.

Delmerico moved to Santa Barbara in 1985 and was founding art director of the Santa Barbara Independent. He was later named Director of Publications at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he worked until his retirement in 1995.

Delmerico is survived by his sisters, Jean Delmerico Moczarski (Peter) of Peekskill, N.Y., and Nancy Delmerico Vitagliano (Don) of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; nephew and niece; longtime partner, Ken Volok.  He was predeceased by his parents.

A celebration of Delmerico's life will be at the American Legion Post 1048 on Palisade Street in Dobbs Ferry Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.
