Grace E. Finnerty (Marchak), 86, Of Rivertowns

RIVERTOWNS, N.Y. – Grace E. Finnerty (nee Marchak) of Hastings, 86, formerly of Yonkers, died Sunday, June 28.

She was born March 22, 1929, to Joseph and Emma (Briskovich) Marchak in Yonkers, where she was raised. She graduated from Gorton High School and the Cochran School of Nursing. Finnerty was a registered nurse and worked in the labor and delivery department at St. John's hospital for over 30 years. She retired in 1992.

On May 3, 1952, she married William K. Finnerty in Most Holy Trinity Church. He died July 7, 2007.

She is survived by her seven children, daughters Leslie, Doreen, Jacqueline, Mary Jo (John) D'Alessandro and Alison Lindhammer; two sons, Kerry (Patricia) and Kevin (Beth) Finnerty; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a sister.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 30 from 4-9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers, New York. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 18 Bellewood Ave., Dobbs Ferry, New York. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
