Helen Marie Kerecz, 93, Of Dobbs Ferry

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Helen Marie Kerecz of Dobbs Ferry died Thursday, Jan. 23. She was 93.

Kerecz was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Olyphant, Pa., to Michael and Dora Sawayda Dyki. She had been a resident of Dobbs Ferry since 1986 when she had moved from Milford, Conn. She was a retired secretary and credit specialist and seamstress. She attended schools in Pennsylvania including Scranton-Lackawanna Business College. In 1945 she moved to Connecticut and was employed by the General Electric Defense Company in Bridgeport and later by Raybestos-Manhattan in Stratford. She moved to Milford in 1948. She was a member of the Creative Writing Group at the Milford Senior Citizens. Later at Dobbs Ferry she was a member of the Dobbs Ferry Senior Citizens, Sacred Heart Community Group and the Woman's Club of Dobbs Ferry.

Kerecz is survived by her sons, Dr. John C. Kerecz of Dobbs Ferry and Charles Allan Kerecz of New York City; sister, Kay Lee Blomberg of Newtown, Conn.; brother, William J. Dyki of Woodbridge, Conn; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Kerecz.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Smith Funeral of Milford, Conn., followed by a Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary's Church and burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
