Lloyd E. Westlake, 96, Lifelong Dobbs Ferry Resident

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Lloyd E. Westlake of Dobbs Ferry died Oct. 1. He was 96.

Westlake was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, son of John and Emily Westlake. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a chaplin's assistant. After returning home, he worked as a bookbinder for Tapley Company in Moonachie, N.J., for many years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Dobbs Ferry. He founded and ran the Sacred Heart Food for the Hungry Pantry for 29 years.

Westlake is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Warren (Linda); daughter, Sharon (Edward); three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Food for the Hungry Pantry.
