Mary Jean Bova, 86, Dobbs Ferry Resident

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Mary Jean Bova, 86 of Dobbs Ferry, died Saturday, Sept. 12. 

She was born in Dobbs Ferry to Pasquale and Angelina DePaolo. 

She graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School and spent many years as a teacher's aide in the same school she attended. 

On April 16, 1950, she married John Bova at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Dobbs Ferry. He died in 2008. 

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and was a member of the ladies organization that ran the annual spaghetti dinner. 

She is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife, Patricia; and daughters Carol Bova and her husband Andre Paquin, and Patricia Wheeler. 

She was the grandmother of Matthew, Justin, Michael, Kristin Dillon, Kelsey, Angela, Julia and John. 

She was predeceased by her brother, Frank DePaolo, and sister, Eileen Fernandez. 

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. 

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry.
