WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Miles B. Suchin of White Plains died Tuesday, Sept. 24. He was 90.
Suchin was born Dec. 28, 1922, to Harry Z. and Evelyn Roth Suchin in Hastings-on-Hudson. He and his family moved in 1924 to Dobbs Ferry, where he resided until moving to White Plains in 1978. He graduated from the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn. in 1941. He then entered Yale University in 1941, left for service in the U.S. Army in 1943, returned to Yale in 1946 and graduated from Yale in 1947.
Suchin graduated from New York Law School in 1950, and was admitted to practice law in all the courts of New York State and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He was a legislative assistant to the late Assemblyman, Edward H. Innet during the 1951 and 1952 sessions of the New York State Legislature. He was briefly employed in the legal department of C.I.T. Corporation in New York City before becoming an associate in the White Plains Law Firm of Schrecke and Innet. Thereafter, he served as a prosecutor in the Westchester County District Attorney's Office for 24 years from 1954 to 1978, for the last 16 years as an executive assistant district attorney. He retired in 1978. His service in the U.S. Army during World War II was with an Anti-Aircraft Battalion and was spent in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He attained the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Westchester County Bar Association and the American Legion Post Number 135 in White Plains.
Suchin is survived by his sister, Rosalind Kassan, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, former assemblyman, Alvin M. Suchin and Jerome L. Suchin.
