Nina White, 103, Hastings Operator

Nina White

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Nina White of Hastings-on-Hudson died July 6. She was 103. 

Born in County Waterford, Ireland, White emigrated to the U.S. in 1910. She lived in New York City and Bronx, N.Y., before settling in Hastings in 1978. White was a contometer operator for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. and New York Telephone Co. 

She enjoyed reading and was a member of the Hastings Busy Bees, Hastings Seniors, Catholic Daughters of America Grand Court Regina 412. She was also a parishioner of the Church of St. Matthew. 

White was predeceased by her husband, William J. White. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Madigan; a son, William J. White; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of the resurrection was held Tuesday at Church of St. Matthew. Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry was in charge of arrangements.
