Richard Raymond Sachs, 68, Of Dobbs Ferry, Retd. Metropolitan Life Employee

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Richard Raymond Sachs of Dobbs Ferry died Sunday, June 23. He was 68.

Sachs was born in the Bronx, son of Walter and Marie Sachs, and later moved to Dobbs Ferry where he was a resident for 37 years. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Michael Academy, Stonehill College, earned a Masters degree from Bernard Baruch and served in the U.S. Army.

Sachs retired from Metropolitan Life where he had a long career, and held various positions including chief of staff for the President and CEO, Head of Human Resources Shared Services and vice president of Corporate Ethics & Compliance. He was also appointed to the Grace Commission, a task force formed by President Ronald Reagan.

Sachs was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and was a leader for the youth group, Antioch. Working with key parish members, he spent several years advising and guiding teenagers. After retirement, he also served as a crossing guard in Dobbs Ferry.

Sachs is survived by his wife, Margaret Sachs; daughters, Maureen Burr (John), Kerry McFeetors (Marshall); son, Michael Sachs (Amanda); five grandchildren; sister, Carol (Frank) Gannon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Hospice or St Jude Children's Hospital.
