ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Ardsley Village Trustee Beverly Levine died Monday, Sept. 10. She was 76.
Levine served on the village Board of Trustees for the past six years and was seeking a fourth term in November.
"There is no question that she was our number one citizen-volunteer," Ardsley Mayor Peter Porcino said in an email sent by the village clerk Monday morning.
Levine was serving as president of the Ardsley Public Library and as village historian. Porcino said she was known for calling it as she saw it. "She spoke her mind, and you knew where she stood on the issues," he said.
Levine also served on the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services and the Ardsley Board of Education for six years, according to the Southern Westchester BOCES board members Web page. She served a year as president of the BOCES in 2003 and vice president from 2006 to 2009.
She was a retired overseas liaison for the Ford Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry.
