Amber Alert For 3-Year-Old Canceled, Man Apprehended

The AMBER Alert for a 3-year-old Bronx girl has been canceled.

The toddler has been found safe and Diomedes Valenzuela, 51, was apprehended at 5:15 p.m., according to New Jersey State Police.

The New York City Police Department's 52nd Precinct has activated an AMBER Alert in the area for the abduction of 3-year-old Rebecca Valenzuela after a man stabbed a woman in the Bronx and fled with their 3-year-old child.

Police say Diomedes Valenzuela, 51, stabbed a 31-year-old woman, seriously injuring her and fled with their daughter, Rebecca, in a 2004 Dodge Caravan, with New Jersey license plate number K24-ECS. 

He was last seen about 2 p.m. heading over the George Washington Bridge and may be headed to New Jersey, police said.

Valenzuela is described as 6-feet tall, 270 pounds and bald. The child, of Hispanic origin, is about 2-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs about 30 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. Valenzuela should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
