Ardsley Police Warn of Anonymous Sexual Letters

ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Five Ardsley residents have received unsolicited, sexual letters from an anonymous sender, who claims to be watching them, police said. The letters were sent during the past two weeks.

Although the letters may be disturbing to some people, police said residents should not be alarmed, and should simply turn them over to police.

The unsolicited letters are likely connected to a similar incident in 2008 when several letters with a similar message were delivered through the mail to random residents in the area, said Sgt. Anthony Piccolino. Despite an investigation by police and postal authorities in 2008, the sender was never caught.

"The letters are sexual in nature," Piccolino said. "They are not targeted at anyone personally."

Police said the letters contain explicit phrases and claim the sender has been watching the receiver, but are not specifically threatening in nature.

"It can be disturbing, especially for a female, to get them," said Piccolino.
