GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- A Bronx driver with an inoperable tail light and a pot smell in his car, was arrested by New York State Police after troopers found an unregistered loaded handgun and an expandable baton.
Saul R. Colon, 20, was arrested for second degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, state police said.
The arrest occurred after Troopers Kevin Tunney and James Holman noticed the tail light on Colon's Hyundai Sonata was not working while on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh, police said.
When the troopers approached the vehicle, they detected an odor of marijuana. A subsequent search revealed the loaded unregistered revolver handgun and the expandable baton.
Colon was arraigned in the Town of Greenburgh Court by Judge Delores Scott Brathwaite and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. His next court appearance is June 14.
