DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. A Dobbs Ferry man threatened his father with a screw gun, stole the doors off a shed and fled in his fathers car, police said Monday. The man later called police to say he would turn himself in, but has not yet done so, police said.
The father, a 70-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident, called police after his 39-year-old son showed up at his house on Highland Avenue and began removing the doors of a shed.
When the father confronted his son, he became aggressive and said, I will screw your eyes out, while wielding a screw gun, police said.
The father then got in the sons car to prevent him from fleeing before the police arrived. While he was in the car, the son took the fathers car keys and drove away in the 2011 Honda with a shed door in his possession, police said.
Police were unable to locate the suspect but received a call from the man saying he was ready to turn himself in a few days later. As of Monday, the suspect had not turned himself in yet.
Police said they have not issued a warrant for the man but there are charges pending against him. The suspect will be charged with second-degree criminal menacing, unauthorized use of a vehicle and petit larceny, all misdemeanors.
