Hastings Man Charged With Providing Alcohol To Teen

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A Hastings man was arrested Sept. 14 on charges of providing an underage person with alcohol, police said.

John McCaffrey, 21, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and criminal possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree misdemeanor. The Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force apprehended McCaffrey at Zinsser Park.

A 19-year-old man from Hobart was also charged with unlawful possession of alcohol. McCaffrey was released on cash bail, and the 19-year-old was released on his own recognizance.

• Police arrested a Brooklyn man on Broadway after a traffic stop Sept. 11 for failure to use headlights and taillights. When police pulled over his vehicle, Kevin Clark, 44, appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, police said. Clark refused a blood test and was arrested. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and issued a summons for refusing the blood test. Clark is set to appear in court Sept. 19.

• A Broadway resident called 911 on Sept. 15 and told police that three men drove past him in a gray Chevy sedan on Broadway and shouted obscenities at him. The men then got out of the car and urinated on a nearby lawn, he told police. When the men noticed the caller watching them, they chased him and fled in an unknown direction. Police unsuccessfully looked for the suspects.

• A 7-year-old boy’s scooter was stolen Sept. 11 while he was playing basketball at Reynold’s Field, the boy and his mother told police. The mother, a Hastings resident, told police the scooter was taken between 5:15 and 6:20 p.m.

• Two unauthorized withdrawals were made from a Chase checking account Sept. 12, a Hastings woman reported to police Sept. 13. The charges were both paid to Sprint phone company.

• A Hastings man reported Sept. 13 that he sold an item on Craigslist and was paid in $950 in fraudulent checks.
