HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Three incidents of suspicious activity and property damage were reported in Hastings Sunday and Monday. All three cases are still open, and police think the incidents are related, said Hastings police Lt. David Dosin.
The following incidents are under investigation:
- Hastings police responded to a call about 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, transferred from the New York State Police, from a woman on South Broadway who said people were knocking on her door in a threatening manner. She told police she thought the people were trying to break into her home. Officers determined that no one had entered the home, but pry marks were found on the front door of the house. Police also found that an air conditioner had been tampered with, possibly in an attempt to gain access to the house. Police also noted that garbage was thrown on the front porch.
- A resident on Aqueduct Lane called the police about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, and said she heard a car pull onto Ward Street aggressively, followed by the sound of three or four people exiting the car and yelling, “Break a window.”
- About 1 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, a resident on Williams Street reported that her 1994 Honda Civic had been damaged. The resident said she parked the car 8 a.m. Sunday and noticed the damage around 12:45 a.m. Monday. Police saw garbage thrown on the roof and hood of the car, as well as dents on the hood.
