WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A speeding stop in Harrison led to felony drug charges for a Westchester man allegedly in possession of cocaine on I-287.

New York State Police troopers stopped 28-year-old Cesar Velazquez-Tapia of Port Chester for speeding shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning for a speeding violation.

During the subsequent stop, troopers said that Velazquez-Tapia was found to be allegedly impaired by alcohol and was in possession of 2.3 grams of cocaine.

Velazquez-Tapia was arrested and charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was also cited for a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and vehicle and traffic violations.

Following arraignment, Velazquez-Tapia was released to a sober third party after posting $1,920 cash bail. He is due back in the Town of Harrison Court next month to answer the charges.
