Man Accused Of Kicking Club Door In Hastings

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Tibor Farkas, 41, of Yonkers was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after he kicked out the window of the front door at The Southside Club on Southside Avenue, Hastings police said.

Police responded to a call around 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, that a man was kicking the door, said Lt. David Dosin. Police determined that Farkas, who is not a member of the club, was deaf and was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

He was transported to a medical center to treat his intoxication. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 22. The following items also were reported by Hastings police:

Car Break-In: A resident called police around 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, to report that his 1999 Ford van had been broken into between 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 4 p.m. Aug. 6 in his driveway on South Clinton Avenue. The rear passenger window had been smashed, but nothing was missing from the van.

Jewelry Theft: A Maple Avenue resident reported Wednesday, Aug. 8, that several pieces of her jewelry were missing. The resident said she noticed the pieces were missing Aug. 4 and suspects the theft occurred in the past month while several contractors were working on her apartment. The missing jewelry is valued at $4,300, police said.

Jewelry Theft: A resident reported Friday, Aug. 10, that items had been stolen from her car between 5 and 6 p.m. Aug. 9 while she was visiting a friend on Travis Place. She told police she heard the car alarm go off but didn’t check the car. She said a small bag of gold jewelry, a loose antique diamond and an antique ring valued at $50,000 were missing.

Car Vandalism: A resident on Euclid Avenue reported Friday, Aug. 10, that her 2012 black BMW had been damaged with paint while parked in her driveway between 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 and 6 p.m. Aug. 10. Police noted yellow or tan paint on the car’s bumper.

Missing Pet: A resident on Rose Street reported her cat missing about 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. She told police she suspects someone took the cat because she always puts the cat on a runner leash when it is outside. The resident found the runner leash put away against her house. The cat is described as an older black and beige Himalayan.
