Man Arrested After Dispute With Mom In Dobbs Ferry

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – A 21-year-old Yonkers man was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 21, after an argument with his mother, a 44-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident, police said.

The man was visiting his younger sister, who was moving to college that day, and became combative after their mother told him he couldn’t go with them because there was not enough room in the car, Dobbs Ferry police said.

The woman called the police after her son refused to leave. Police arrived and asked him to leave, and the man became combative with the police, according to the report. The man was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation; and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

The following items also were reported by Dobbs Ferry police:

Cellphone Theft: A female Dobbs Ferry resident reported that her boyfriend, also of Dobbs Ferry, stole her cellphone about 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20. The woman told police the man showed up at her work and asked to use her phone. He then ran away with it and posted items on her Facebook page without her permission, police said. The woman originally wanted to press charges against the man, but changed her mind after the phone was recovered.

Bank Door Cracked: The rear door of a Chase bank branch was cracked, possibly with a rock, between 7:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, and 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21. Damage was estimated at $300.

Purse Stolen: A 38-year-old Hastings resident reported that her purse was taken from an unlocked locker between 7:40 and 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the New York Sports Club. In addition to the purse, four credit cards, a Motorola smartphone, $50 and keys were taken. The total value of the stolen items is $200.

Employee Theft: A doctor reported that $1,000 was taken from his practice by an employee between May 22 and Wednesday, Aug. 22. The doctor told police an employee took a $6,000 cash payment from a patient but recorded and deposited only $5,000.

Deliveries Stolen: A 52-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident reported that two packages were stolen from her house on Cedar Street after being delivered on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 18. The resident said the post office confirmed the deliveries and is investigating. The packages contained clothing valued at $180.

Car Vandalism: A 52-year-old Dobbs Ferry man reported the driver’s side window of his 2007 Honda Civic was shattered between 9 and 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, while parked on Broadway near Livingston Avenue. Police said the glass was shattered in a web-like pattern with a small hole in the middle, possibly by a BB gun or air rifle.
