A New City man who pulled over on the side of I-87 in Orangetown with a flat tire had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit, state police said.
State Police stopped to aid to the disabled vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.
The driver, 37-year-old Michael J. Fifelski was found to be intoxicated, state police said, and was transported and processed at State Police barracks in Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18 percent.
He was subsequently charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.
Fifelski was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Orangetown Court on June 7.
