DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Police arrested a Dobbs Ferry man Saturday, Aug. 18, after management at Smoothie King in Dobbs Ferry, where the man was employed, reported he stole money from the business.
Michael Taussig, 19, is accused of stealing $67 from the Smoothie King register by not ringing in items and keeping the money. Taussig was charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, said police Sgt. Rick Guevara.
While police where taking inventory of Taussigs belongings at police headquarters, they found a fake Maryland drivers license, Guevara said. Taussig was additionally charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a class D felony. Taussig is to appear in court Thursday, Aug. 23.
The following items also were reported by Dobbs Ferry police:
Office Burglary: A 48-year-old Dobbs Ferry man reported that an iMac computer was stolen from his office on Main Street between 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, and 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. The man said all doors were locked and there was no sign of forced entry. The computer is valued at $600, Guevara said.
Stolen Plates: A 51-year-old Putnam Valley resident reported that someone took the front and back license plates from her 2009 Honda Accord between 6 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, while the car was parked on Oak Street.
Marijuana Possession: Police charged two Mamaroneck residents, one 17 and the other 18, with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. About 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, an officer on patrol saw a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Ashford Avenue. When officers approached the car, they observed a blunt on the center console, police said. After searching the car, police found additional marijuana in a sandwich bag. The two teenagers are to appear in court Sept. 6.
Harassing Calls: A 47-year-old man reported a case of second-degree harassment on Sunday, Aug. 19. He said he received numerous phone calls from an ex-girlfriend. No arrests were made.
