String Of Larcenies Reported In Dobbs Ferry

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Police responded to a larceny at the New York Sports Club parking lot after a 46-year-old Valhalla man reported an unknown person took items from his 1999 Ford vehicle Aug. 30 around 11:30 a.m.

The items taken from the car include $700 and a credit card, police said. There was no sign of forced entry and the man told police he could not remember if he locked the car. He also told police he noticed a dark sedan suspiciously circling the parking lot, police said. 

Other larcenies reported by the police:

  • Police responded to a larceny at the New York Sports Club parking lot Aug. 30 after a 16-year-old Dobbs Ferry woman reported her purse was taken from her 2012 Mercedes between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. An unknown person broke the passenger’s side window and took $20, credit cards, a Michael Kors wallet worth $50, a driver’s license and a purse worth $20. The woman told police she did not notice anything suspicious.
  • An employee at a local hardware store reported Aug. 31 that a man took two pairs of headphones from the store without paying Aug. 25. The employee told police he saw the man put the items in his pocket, and when he confronted him, the suspect gave him a debit card to purchase the items and left the area. The employee tried to run the card and the transaction was declined, police said. The employee told police the man who took the items was a local resident.
  • Police responded to a larceny at a local service station after the acting manager, a 45-year-old Scarsdale man, reported six company checks were stolen from an office on the property. An unknown person tried to cash two of the checks unsuccessfully, police said.
