DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. The Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees unanimously approved the final design plan for upland improvements as part of the Waterfront Park Enhancement Project.
The final plan includes a new fishing pier, boating dock and playground, Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett said Thursday in a villagewide email.
This action culminates a long process of work and effort involving community volunteers of the ad hoc Village Waterfront Committee as well the Planning Department of the County of Westchester, Connett said in the email.
The plan also includes new trails and walkways along the river and through the park, as well as a comfort station, new lampposts, lighting and benches. The comfort station is designed with regard to the architectural style of the train station, Connett said in the email.
With this plan approved, the county will present construction plans to allow the bidding process for the labor and materials needed to complete this project. While the approval went smoothly, the shoreline stabilization aspect of the project is not coming along as planned.
Connett said the material used for a new seawall in the Willow Point area has not taken hold into the shore and new materials are being explored. Because of this, all work in that area has been halted so the various parties involved can determine how to remedy the issue.
Connett said the seawall issue will not change the budget or timeline of the project.
