If they don't re-register, that they will lose their basic STAR exemption for next year, he said.

New York State announced that it was going to send out mailers that would contain all of the information needed to re-register for the Basic STAR exemption. If you have not received a mailer by Oct. 15, you can get the information by clicking here

Those that are enrolled in the Enhanced STAR exemption do not need to re-register.

In other announcements, Swiderski has enlisted the help of architects to explore designs for a suicide prevention fence that will be part of the Warburton Bridge renovation project that will begin in January. The plans currently call for a chain link fence that Swiderski said would make the bridge look like a prison walkway.

He also said that the public hearing period for the Green Building Code that will require many construction projects to obtain new permits is still open. The full code is written out here.
