Gilliland received 239 votes, and Gilberti 96, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections.
According to the Irvington Democratic Committee, Gilliland, 59, was first elected to the board in 2012. He has spent more than two decades as a software developer and is a master gardener.
Gilberti is taking over for Trustee Walter Montgomery who decided not to run for re-election.
Gilberti has spent five years working with former County Legislator and now State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, State Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins and County Legislator MaryJane Shimsky. She also spent time as a writer/producer at CBS News and is currently an associate at Peter J. Solomon Company.
