Rivertowns Square Environmental Review Process Approved

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The controversial Rivertowns Square project took a major step forward Thursday when the Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees unanimously voted to accept the project’s environmental review process.

Although the vote was crucial for the project, Mayor Hartley Connett said in an email sent to the village, it does not mean the board has approved the project completely. The vote means the board accepted the Final Environmental Impact Statement as part of the State Environmental Quality Review Act review process, which looks at potential environmental impacts that could be caused during construction and use. The FEIS is available for review on the village website .

A public hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Embassy Community Center, where residents are encouraged to bring up any issues or concerns they have with the FEIS, Connett said in the email.

“The Board of Trustees looks forward to hearing from the public and all involved and interested agencies,” Connett said in the email.
