Most of Shimsky's tenure on the Board of Legislators was dedicated to keeping Westchester's roads and bridges on the top of the county's agenda.
"I am extremely honored to have been selected and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues from around the state at the upcoming NYSAC meeting in Albany," Shimsky, who chairs the county board's Infrastructure Committee, said in a statement.
Among the NYSAC Committee's priorities is the support of a multi-year Transportation Infrastructure Bond Act to help state and local governments make updates to airports and other transportation infrastructure.
"Just as counties exist to do the work that local governments cannot do on their own, the state helps with issues that are too big for individual counties. Given the massive investments we will need in coming years to keep our roads, bridges, and other infrastructure functioning properly, we, as individual counties, will only be able to do so much on our own," Shimsky added.
