Wilton Library to Hold 117th Annual Meeting

WILTON, Conn. – Transitions will be the focus of the annual Friends of the Wilton Library meeting planned for 4 p.m. Sunday, June 17.

The meeting at Wilton Library is open to all Wilton residents.

The subject was chosen because of the many new trustees and the new director, Elaine Tai-Lauria, who is replacing Kathy Leeds who is stepping down as director and board member after 15 years. A portion of the meeting will focus on the election of new trustees and officers, and will celebrate the retiring members of the Board of Trustees.

The proposed officers for the new fiscal year beginning July 1 include Michael Kaelin for president, Ann Duffy for vice president, Robert Kelso for treasurer and Whitney Janeway for secretary. Retiring board members are Patricia Gould and Ken Kempson.

The library also will present the awards for outstanding volunteer and staff person of the year.

University of Connecticut English Professor Gina Barreca will talk about transitions following the general meeting and election. This will be the second time Barreca has spoken at the library. She previously held an author’s talk in February 2011.

A short reception will follow the election, award presentations and speaker, all of which is open to the public. Advance registration is encouraged.
