Lots of Million Dollar Homes for Sale Around Hastings

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – If there’s an extra million dollars burning a hole in your pocket you may be in luck, as there is no shortage of pricey single-family homes in Greenburgh and Scarsdale.

According to ZipReality.com, there are more than 200 homes listed at $1 million and up for sale throughout Greenburgh, its villages and neighboring Scarsdale. Dalia Valdes, associate broker at Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty, said it’s not uncommon to see that many area homes top the million dollar mark.

“When you’re that close to New York City you pay premium pricing,” Valdes said. “And there are very good schools districts, which really is a draw for most families.”

Eight of the top 10 priciest pads in the area are in Scarsdale, while the remaining two sit in Irvington. Scarsdale earns the distinction as featuring the priciest home with a $12 million listing.

Sitting on 3.3 acres, the 1918 “magnificent English Stone Manor” is in the heart of Murray Hill and comes with 10 bedrooms, nine baths, a separate guest cottage and staff quarters, according to Sotheby’s.

Also included is a heated swimming pool, pergola, Zen garden, putting green and basketball court, the Realtor says.

“Not only is the house spectacular but the property is beautiful,” said Valdes, the property’s listing agent. “It’s off the beaten path. When you see it you think of the English countyside or somewhere in France – not in U.S., 25 minutes from the city.”

Valdes said pricing the pad wasn’t difficult. In December, a family closed on a $10.8 million home right down the street. Typically, however, agents look to nearby Rye or Greenwhich, other luxury markets, when pricing the top-of-the-line homes, Valdes said.

“When we price a luxury house like that, it’s not only what you could get in Scarsdale but what you could get in other luxury markets,” she said.

Twenty minutes to the west, in Irvington, an $11.75 million mansion is also listed by Sotheby's, the second-most expensive home in Greenburgh and Scarsdale.

“Historically hailed as the most elegant villa on the Hudson, this magnificent 1853 mansion has been fully restored to its original splendor and updated for today,” Soethby’s says.

The most expensive home for sale in Westchester County is a $26.5 million estate in Bedford Corners, according to ZipReality. Still, Westchester is looking up at New York City in terms of price.

Manhattan features the most expensive home for sale in the state, and third-most expensive in the country, with a $90 million East Side mansion, Forbes reports
