ABC Reporter, Westchester DA To Speak At Mercy College Graduation

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – ABC News reporter Juju Chang and Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore are scheduled to speak Wednesday at Mercy College’s graduation ceremony in White Plains.

Chang, an Emmy award-winning co-anchor for “Nightline” on ABC News, will speak at the morning commencement exercises for the School of Liberal Arts and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

DiFiore, a former judge and lifelong Westchester County resident, is serving her third term as Westchester’s chief prosecuting attorney. She will speak at the afternoon graduation ceremony for Mercy College’s School of Business, the School of Education, and the School of Health and Natural Sciences.

Both women will also receive honorary degrees for their contributions to society.

Chang reports regularly for “20/20” and “Good Morning America.” Throughout her career, she has investigated many issues including gender equality in the sciences, the struggles of people with albinism, and the case of Texas mother Hannah Overton who was convicted for poisoning her foster son to death with salt.

DiFiore has worked with many other law enforcement officials to develop new agencies and protocols related to criminal justice, including the Child Advocacy Center, the Child Fatality Review Team, and the Westchester Intelligence Center. She is actively involved in juvenile justice reform, as well as reaching justice for adults wrongfully convicted of crimes.

Mercy College’s morning commencement ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. with doors opening at 9:30 a.m.

The afternoon graduation ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.

Both ceremonies will be held at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains.
