ARDSLEY, N.Y. Ardsley High School seniors graduated Wednesday evening in front of family and friends on the high school football field.
Thirteen years ago we began an educational journey that would lead us to this day, said senior class President Rachel Ahn. The class of 2012 knows what it wants and will be steadfast in achieving its goals.
Students expressed optimism for the future as they spoke, and salutatorian Kimberly Goldstein even referenced Toy Story in her speech. Goldstein said graduation mirrored the movie as both are about moving on, but never forgetting one's past.
Now it is up to us to live our own lives, create our own adventures, she said. I remind myself that separation is not isolation. The friends that you want to keep close will never be far.
Valedictorian Bettina Cheung spoke to the crowd and performed a freestyle poem as she projected a sense of optimism to her fellow students.
Its not where you look but how you look, she said. Find happiness even if you have to squint to find it. Dont panic, and live long and prosper.
Superintendent Lauren Allan congratulated the class of 2012 on proving themselves as a group of impressive young adults. She said students need only two things to be successful in the future.
Wings to fly and take risks, and roots that hold and ground you, she said. Find what you love, find what you are passionate about, and just go for it.
