ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Ardsley Middle School was evacuated around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after the word "bomb" was found scrawled in pencil on a stairwell in the school, Greenburgh police said.

The school has been checked and was deemed safe, police said.

Police from Greenburgh, Yonkers and Westchester County searched the building using K-9 units to check for suspicious articles.

Greenburgh police say the matter is under investigation.

Ardsley High School was similarly evacuated in late February when the word "bomb" was found written in a boys' bathroom.
