Dobbs Ferry Board of Ed Introduces New Teachers

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Dobbs Ferry Board of Education introduced a total of 12 new teachers in the school district on Thursday night.

"They're all excellent," said John Fallino, principal of Dobbs Ferry High School. "We have a really in-depth interviewing process so we were really able to scrutinize a lot of these candidates. We probably had at least 300 applicants for each position so every one of them went through screening interviews, committee interviews, demo lesson, follow up interviews with the superintendent and me."

Springhurst Elementary School introduced three new teachers, Dobbs Ferry Middle School introduced one new temporary teacher and Dobbs Ferry High School introduced eight new teachers.

"I've had a chance to watch them work with the person they're replacing and that's been very nice because they've demonstrated a great level of commitment even though they're not even in that position yet," said Julia Drake, principal of Springhurst Elementary School.

The principals of the district’s schools also discussed the first day of classes and what it means moving forward for students.

"Since that first day of school we've really been off and running in a really strong and positive way," Fallino said. "A lot of the legwork that we put in over the summer paid off."
