DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – In her first year as the Dobbs Ferry school district’s music and theater teacher, Georgia DeFalco wanted to mix things up for her debut as a director. By crafting this year’s middle school fall play “Mixical”, a musical revue, that’s exactly what she did.

“In a revue, you get to use more kids and more variety,” she said. “It gives you the opportunity to select different musicals and different plays.”

This weekend, at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday, DeFalco and her 45 performers will put on a show that will include songs from various musicals such as “Oliver!” and scenes from musicals such as “Guys and Dolls.” While the performers are all middle school students from sixth through eighth grades, the stage crew is high school students in ninth through 12th grades.

“Most of the classes I teach are for the high school, so it has been awesome to get to know the middle school students,” DeFalco said. “Their energy level and excitement have been a lot of fun to be around.”

Justin Cohen, an eighth-grader, is a prime example of that, as he alone will have four roles in the revue.

“I’ve been in a lot of plays and musicals, but this is my first revue,” he said. “It has been a unique experience transferring between different characters and scenes. Ms. DeFalco had an amazing vision, and hopefully our performance this weekend will represent that.”

“Mixical” will be performed in the Dobbs Ferry High School Auditorium, where tickets will be available at the door starting 30 minutes before each show. Ticket prices are $6 for students and $8 for adults.
