Falino is scheduled to speak at the annual convention for the National Council of Teachers of English on Nov. 24 in Boston, according to a press release. Falino will be a part of the panel “Diving in (Headfirst) to Digital Literacy: Reinventing Yourself as a 21st Century English Teacher," according to the release.

"Falino is the only administrator on the panel which includes three other English teachers from the New York area," representatives said in the release. "The focus of his presentation encompasses how to use educational technology in the classroom. An avid blogger and tweeter himself, Falino knows a thing or two about social media and motivating staff members to jump on the digital bandwagon."

Falino will "address the challenges in implementing technology and offer practical suggestions," according to the release.

"Research suggests that even though teachers of English recognize the importance of incorporating digital literacies into their classrooms, the majority have not achieved effective integration. Sometimes the only way to move teaching practices forward is to jump headfirst into the unknown and experiment with new ways of approaching daily curriculum," according to the presentation description in the press release.

“I would definitely describe John as an ‘early adopter’ of educational technology,” said Dobbs Ferry Superintendent Lisa Brady in the release. “He has been at the forefront of bringing the High School into the 21st Century in terms of encouraging teachers in every content area to try and incorporate technology into their instructional practices. Technology can be instrumental in reinforcing lessons and further engaging students in the curriculum. This is a terrific honor and opportunity for John and a great way to showcase what the Dobbs Ferry School District is doing in the area of digital literacy.”
